The sculptor Luisa Roldán (1652-1706), also known as "La Roldana", was the daughter of Pedro Roldán, also a sculptor. She is the first female Spanish sculptor known to us. Luisa Roldán is the sculptor of ‘The Archangel Michael Vanquishing the Devil’, one of the most iconic carvings in our Royal Collections.

The sculpture is currently in the restoration workshops of the Royal Palace in Madrid, where it is being restored by Ana Loureiro.
