The Royal Collections Gallery celebrates World Music Day with guided tours

For tomorrow, Patrimonio Nacional has organised an educational activity at the Royal Collections Gallery to commemorate World Music Day. The Area of Cultural Action will offer visitors the chance to extend their visit with a guided tour of the museum where they will explore some of the musical instruments in detail as well as learn about the importance of music in daily life at Court.

There will be three free tours at 11am, 11:30am and 12pm, aimed at visitors who are already within the Gallery premises. Each visit will last about twenty minutes and take place in groups of fifteen persons maximum, visiting different themes of the Halls of the Habsburgs and the Bourbons. Visitors interested in participating only have to approach the visitors’ desk (on Floor 0) a few minutes before the start of the activity.

Additionally, these detailed explanations of certain works housed in the Gallery shall continue from 27th November onwards with “In Context”. This is the name of the new educational programme with which Patrimonio Nacional seeks to provide an enhanced experience for visitors interested in expanding their knowledge of the characteristics and historical context of certain works.

“A White Horse” by Velázquez (Floor –1, Habsburgs) is the artwork selected for November, while December visits shall focus on the “Royal Crown Carriage” (Floor –2, Bourbons). The 'In Context' visits will be available to visitors already inside the premises of the Royal Collections Gallery on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30pm, Wednesdays at 7:30pm, and Saturdays at 10:30am.
