23/10/2023
The Royal Collections Gallery, the new museum of Patrimonio Nacional, has received the "Opening of the Year" Award at the first edition of the Time Out Cultura de Madrid awards. The award was collected at the gala held at the Eslava Theatre on Monday by the Manager of Patrimonio Nacional, Mariola Menéndez, and the Director of the Gallery, Leticia Ruiz.
The Time Out Cultura Awards recognise the professional career of a creator, project or collective that has developed a significant part of its activities within the region and thus they recognise the excitement generated by the Gallery in terms of cultural tourism in Madrid.
The new museum of Patrimonio Nacional is located next to the Royal Palace of Madrid, covers an area of 40,000 m2, and exhibits a selection of more than 650 objects from the Royal Collections that bear the hallmark of masters such as Velázquez, Goya and Caravaggio. It also includes a temporary exhibition hall, a 300-seat auditorium and one of the most modern and spacious warehouses for cultural assets in Europe.
The Time Out magazine award is the latest in a series of awards won by the Gallery, whose building has already received more than a dozen architectural awards, as well as the 2023 Cermi Award in the Universal Accessibility category for its efforts to make the facilities and services of this new space accessible to all audiences.
