The Royal Palace of Madrid is the largest royal palace in Western Europe and one of the biggest in the world. It covers a surface area of over 135,000 square metres and has 3,418 rooms which have witnessed centuries of Spanish history. It is one of the few official residences of heads of state that is open to the public. Nearly 2 million visitors come every year to explore its rooms, its works of art, and its treasures that are unique in the world.
